Description

I open my eyes and see a neighborhood so different from anything Iā€˜ve ever experienced...

I see old buildings, I sense their distinguished, subtle aroma fading away in the refreshing air, tender flowers and blossoms leaning down from tiny, slender balconies in an effort to touch me. A river whispering to me stories while dancing softly through the narrow
canal, dancing careless through time. A sky creating luxuriant colorful paintings...a world that embraces me...a world offering to become part of me...

And as I wake up from my childish dreams I violently confront my current reality. I find myself once more surrounded by enormous, terrifying buildings that steal away from me the sun. Weak, sorrowful trees desperately struggling to survive in the suffocative polluted atmosphere, buried amongst monstrous cars and an inhuman crowd...

I came to realize that all this beauty was merely a brief dream of another neighborhood, another reality, another vision from the past...

My first artwork made completely in Painter, trying out some brushes, adding some textures to the walls for making old, etc...hope you like it

There's more things I like than dislike about this one, but I do especially like the building to the left, the colour and texture is almost like watercolour (thumbup)

Great perspective and colors in this, the foreground is wonderfully detailed. The farther back in the picture I look, however, gets really vague. I understand that's a natural illusion, however, the buildings (particularly the one on the right) and the sky merge just a little too much for my liking. Some definition at the top of that building would help set it apart from the sky, or perhaps if you lightened the sky that might help. Overall, I really do enjoy this, though. Nice job. (thumbup)

nice contrast between the left and right buildings, which i have interpreted as the difference between dream and reality, great portrayal!

very very nice job here Agios....I love the atmosphere and perspective of the piece. The foreground foliage and dove are a nice touch and ad depth to the scene.

Your palette is pushed enough that it adds a fantastic elelment to the piece. One thing thats holding this piece back a bit is the way your light and shadow sides almost make each side of the image feel like they belong in two seperate paintings. Adding a bit of blue in the shadows of the left buildings will make the piece feel a bit more cohesive.

Great job

Your use of colours is beautiful as always, Angele. And I think you've taken it a step forward, too, in terms of the overall atmosphere. Keep it up!
